Handwriting Without Tears®

What is Handwriting Without Tears®?

Handwriting Without Tears® (HWT) is a multi-sensory handwriting curriculum designed to assist students with legibility and fluency of handwriting, including readiness (pre-writing) skills and manuscript and cursive styles.

What Does HWT Feature?

Handwriting Without Tears® is unique in the sense that it helps children develop their writing skills through multisensory play. Activities with the Wood Pieces Set, Capital Letter Cards, Mat, Roll-A-Dough Letters™, Stamp and See Screen™, CDs, Slate Chalkboard, and Blackboard use each of the senses to teach directionality, positioning, and sequencing skills. Children are able to move, touch, feel, and manipulate real objects as they learn the habits and skills essential for writing.

What are the Benefits of HWT?

By building on knowledge the children already possess, the curriculum facilitates and improves handwriting skills. This instruction helps children develop appropriate skills and techniques, including letter size, formation and placement on lines.
